"We are ready to cooperate with all GECF member states in the methods of the natural gas and LNG trade, including swaps, transit and other common methods," Owji made the remarks on the threshold of the 6th GECF Summit of Heads of State and Government on Monday, Iran"s SHANA news agency reported.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran"s main strategy, as one of the world"s largest holders of proven natural gas reserves and a founding member of GECF, is to ensure maximum support for the esprit de corps and collective decisions of GECF in accordance with the Statute agreed upon by members, with the goal of safeguarding the interests of both natural gas exporters and gas consumers," Owji stated.
The GECF members have rightly played their part in the sustainable supply of gas in the world despite the difficult conditions that emerged after the Coronavirus outbreak, the Iranian oil minister said.
Owji also described Iran as one of the countries that have the largest natural gas reserves in the world and said that Iran, with its 38,000 kilometers of the domestic gas supply network, is one of the leading countries in this field.
He stated that the policy of the Ministry of Oil in the 13th government of Iran is strategic cooperation with regional states, as well as members of the GECF, adding that Iran can be the most desirable option for transferring gas to the east and west, given its geographical location and existing infrastructure.
