NIGC emphasizes expanding gas cooperation with Russia

The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), in a meeting with the head of the Russian Oil and Gas Industry Association on the sidelines of the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025), highlighted the capabilities of Iranian experts in the oil and gas sector and stressed the importance of increased engagement with Russian partners, calling for expanded bilateral cooperation.

During the first day of the exhibition, Saeid Tavakkoli noted that the event showcases the expertise of Iranian specialists who have excelled in the oil and gas industry. He said, “Given these achievements, we welcome stronger ties between the National Iranian Gas Company and the Russian Oil and Gas Union and hope this leads to greater collaboration.”

According to the report of the public relations of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Tavakkoli also emphasized the need to establish a joint Iran-Russia oil and gas working group, stating that it would create more opportunities to discuss mutual needs and exchange expert opinions.

Regarding the gas purchase and transfer agreement between Russia and Iran, he said the deal is in its final stages, with senior officials from both countries supporting its implementation.

Nikolay Isakov, head of the Russian Oil and Gas Industry Association, said Russia aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap to expand cooperation with the National Iranian Gas Company and plans to take further steps in this direction.

“We believe in the significant potential for collaboration between Russia and Iran and are convinced that this partnership should be further strengthened,” he said.

Isakov noted that joint government projects are already underway and stressed the need to maximize existing capacities while fostering broader participation.

He added that Russia is keen to introduce its products to the Iranian market while facilitating Iranian exports to Russia to boost trade relations. “We are fully prepared to promote Iranian manufacturers in the Russian market and expand cooperation opportunities,” he said.
