National gas network covers over 95% of Irans population

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Namdar Zangeneh has stated that over 95 percent of the countrys population is currently enjoying natural gas through the countrys huge national network.

Addressing a remotely participated-in ceremony on Thursday to launch several national projects in the presence of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Zangeneh said currently, 98.4% of the urban population and 84.6% of the rural population and in total, more than 95% of the total population of the country enjoys the benefits of natural gas.

According to the report of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), he added that, with the mentioned projects going operational, natural gas was supplied to 21 cities, 2,809 villages, and 4,664 industrial units in West Azarbaijan, South Khorasan, Kerman, Lorestan, Khuzestan, and Fars provinces.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) officials, as well as senior officials from the mentioned provinces.
